12 Dec, Mahendranagar (Dhanusa): The ongoing agitation in Tarai-Madhes against the new constitution that is in fourth months seem to be waning down with slim presence of protesters in the streets and Nepal’s major border crossings with India. Furthermore, most bazaars, educational institutions and industries have opened.

Besides, daily public life is returning to normalcy gradually with the resumption of transportation service.

Unlike in the past when the protest was at its peak, the number of the protesters staging sit-ins at various border crossings is dwindling significantly over the past two weeks, while educational institutions, factories and other organisations in various areas of protest-stricken districts including Janakpur in Dhanusa are in full operation.

For instance, a temporary hut set up at Malangawa-Sonbarsa border point in Sarlahi for the protesters to take shelter while staging demonstrations has been removed recently.

The protesters said that they are fed up as demands seem nowhere to be addressed even as they have been intensifying the protest for long.

However, some leaders of the agitating Madhes-centric political parties blamed increasing cold and business of farmers in their seasonal farming for the dwindling number of the protesters on the streets. RSS
