President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has suggested bringing an ordinance for Chure conservation.

Addressing a programme related to Chure conservation organised at Jalad rivulet at Digambarpur in Dhanusha district to mark Chure Conservation Day, President Yadav said the government should enforce the Chure conservation related laws to stop deforestation in the Chure region, a fragile ecosystem.

He said, “Water sources cannot be conserved and fertile land protected until the Chure area is preserved.”

The President further said that life of the Tarai region would be safe if forest and streams and the environment in the Chure belt protected, pointing out to the rapid desertification in the Tarai region due to deforestation.

President Yadav said the government should pay special attention for the conservation of Chure to save the people of tarai, hilly and mountainous areas as it was the need of the hour to protect water, forest and land.

Similarly, former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said that some 20,000 bighas of land could be protected if river eroding could be controlled from Chure areas to the Indian borders.

Likewise, Minister for Forests and Soil Conservation, Mahesh Acharya, said that it was necessary to uplift the living standard of the people and also to be safe from natural disaster.

Pointing out the need of tree plantation to be safe from different disasters like landslides and floods, Minister Acharya said it was the need of the hour to conserve chure areas. RSS
