5 march, Biratnagar: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the local poll would not be postponed at any cost.

Talking to mediapersons at Biratnagar Airport today, PM Dahal expressed confidence that the United Democratic Madhesi Front will participate in the local poll as discussion with the Front was going on for the same.

Prime Minister Dahal said the UDMF would participate in the poll after the number of local units is increased. He added that the local level restructuring commission will submit its report and the number of Units in Tarai would be increased today.

Prime Minister Prachanda also said that the constitution amendment was not needed for local poll but might be needed for provincial and federal polls.

Responding to a query of media persons, the Prime Minister made it clear that the incumbent government will hold local poll. He added that the incumbent government was serious to resolving the problems in Tarai.

PM Dahal shared that he was working to get the amendment bill passed after holding discussions with other parties after revising it rather than going for voting in the current bill.

He added that the main opposition CPN (UML)’s Mechi-Mahakali campaign should be taken as a positive step and urged Front to facilitate the environment not to let the situation get worsened towards a conflict.

PM further said that no parties should obstruct the campaign as every party can organize programme adding that it was the beauty of democracy.

He committed to manage the security for the campaign from government’s side. RSS
