Pokhara, Jan. 12: The 18th town council meeting of the Pokhara Sub-Metropolitan City has approved a budget of Rs. 567.772 million for the fiscal year 2014/15.

Of the total budget, Rs. 294 million would be met through internal income and Rs. 273.772 million through government’s grant. The budget is 47 per cent more than the previous fiscal year 2012/13.

Similarly, the sub-metropolis has allocated Rs. 292.976 million towards infrastructure development, Rs. 89.046 million towards population and social development, Rs. 45.755 million towards agriculture, forest and environment, Rs. 15.5 million towards soil and water resources management and Rs. 124.495 million towards administration and organisation.

Inaugurating the meeting, Secretary at the Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development, Shanta Bahadur Shrestha, expressed the view that problems have surfaced initiating ambitious projects due to lack of elected representatives in local bodies for the past 16 years.

On the occasion, newly elected members to the Constituent Assembly (CA)–Sharada Poudel, Rabindra Adhikari, Brindadevi Rana, Kumar Khadka, Tej Kumari Poudel and Jeevan Pariyar, expressed the commitment to move ahead joining hands.
