Madrid, Jan 29: Real Madrid’s star Cristiano Ronaldo has been imposed a ban  of next two matches after his  obnoxious behavior in last weekend´s league game that included kicking an opponent.

Announcing its decision, the federation´s disciplinary committee on Wednesday said that Ronaldo can’t play home games against Real Sociedad on Saturday and Sevilla on Feb. 4.

However, Ronaldo will return for the derby at Atletico Madrid on Feb. 7.

Strolling off the pitch after the referee showed the red  card, the Portugal forward showed some horrible gesture to the badge on his shirt for winning the Club World Cup in December.

Ronaldo, who won his third Ballon d´Or award earlier this month,  was given a direct red card for kicking Cordoba defender Edimar late in Saturday´s 2-1 victory. Worse, reacting to the referee’s decision, he then swiped the face of Cordoba´s Jose Crespo.

He was sorry for his behavior later.

Issuing a statement the committee  said that its decision  ” was based exclusively  on the referee´s match report, in which there was no mentioning of  Ronaldo hitting Crespo nor his gesture toward his shirt that earned him loud jeers from the Cordoba crowd.

Madrid has three days available to ask for the reive

Ronaldo’s suspension isn’t a new phenomenon. Earlier he was banned  for three games in February last year for hitting Athletic Bilbao´s Carlos Gurpegi and for making a mocking gesture.

In the points table, Madrid  is ahead of Barcelona by one point enjoying its supremacy in the Spanish league. ( With Inputs From Associated Press)
