The Government of China has distributed solar panels for free to a total of 80 households in Lhomanthang of Mustang district.

The solar panels were distributed to the locals based on the agreement held on June 20 between the Chief of Dhongwasen district of Tibet, the autonomous region of China, and Chief of Lhomanthang Border Administration Office.

Chief of Border Administration Office, Mustang, Krishna Prasad Dhakal said that the solar panels of more than 70 watts were installed in the region. The total cost of the solar panels is more than 300,000 Yuan, it is said.

The Government of China has been distributing rice, cooking oil, pulse, salt and other daily essentials to the local residents of six VDCs in upper Mustang.

Meanwhile, Energy Society Nepal distributed solar panels to health posts, birthing centres, community schools, Red Cross offices and journalists in Nuwakot district on Saturday.

Programme Coordinator of Society Chanchala Dhakal said that a total of 1,200 solar panels were distributed in Nuwakot district after the devastating April 25 earthquake.

Society said that 178 solar panels were given to community schools while 140 in Likhu, 345 in Urleni, 300 in Gorsyang, 50 in Betini and 40 in Ratmate. RSS
