24 August, KATHMANDU: After failure of  talks, the 33-party alliance threatened on Saturday to launch stern protest.

As the talks with the High Level Political Committee (HLPC) could not conclude successfully, the alliance parties held a meeting at the CPN-Maoist’s central office at Buddhanagar to make headway of  their future strategy.

Organising a press conference today, CPN-Maoist Chairman Vaiddya dubbed the HLPC as syndicate, and accused it of showing reluctance to resolve the crisis through round table discussion. “We were in favour of resolving the crisis but the four-party syndicate was disinterested in it,” he said. “We want present government be dissolved and poll date deferred.”

If the four parties continue to discard them, the alliance will intensify its protest, according to him. The protest programme, however, will be announced after holding further discussions.

“Two days ago all the political parties had reached to a theoretical agreement to hold a round-table conference. The leaders of four parties, however, abruptly breached today the agreement to hold the round-table conference and were not even ready to give continuity to the talks,” a statement issued by the CPN-Maoist on behalf of the alliance said.

The alliance suspected if the foreign power centres had any hand in thwarting potential agreement among the parties, and asked the parties to seriously think over their decisions to end the talks.
