19 Sept-Butwal:  Police have arrested three people including an ex-Maoist combatant on the charge of terrifying the villagers by brandishing weapons. The arrests were made at Makrahar village in the district on Tuesday night.

Those arrested are Ramesh Chaudhari, 32, of Makrahar VDC-6, Shalik Ram Chapagain, 25, and Krishna Aryal, 21, of Devdaha-4. They were held with one country-made pistol, one .303 rifle and one bullet, said police.

They had come to the village on a bike (Lu. 5 Pa. 7375) and threatened the villagers brandishing firearms. Kajiman Khatri, a member of village security committee, was injured when they attacked him.

Chaudhary, an ex-Maoist combatant, was released after serving term under the Arms and Ammunition (Prevention and Control) Act while Chapagain is a fugitive in a public offense case, it is learnt.
