2 May, Kathmandu: The CPN-UML has finalised candidates for the post of mayor and deputy mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City and all 10 other municipalities in the district for the May 14 local level elections.

A consultation among UML leaders including UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli and leader Madhav Kumar Nepal held today at UML Parliamentary Party Office at Singha Durbar decided to pick Bidya Sundar Shakya for the position of mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, said UML Vice Chairperson Asta Laxmi Shakya.

Others who have been chosen for mayor and deputy mayor include Krishna Hari Thapa and Bindu Sinkhada respectively (for Kageshwori Manahara Municipality), Punya Chaulagain and Shanti Shrestha respectively (for Gokaneshwor), Prakash Adhikari and Gyan Maya Dangol respectively (for Tokha), Ram Krishna Bohara and Bhanu Dotel respectively (for Tarakeshwor), Prhlad Karki and Lisa Nakarmi respectively (for Dakshinkali), Uddhav Kharel and Rama Rai respectively (for Budhanilkantha), Krishna Hari Khatri and Sushila Adhikari respectively (for Nagarjun), Subarna Shrestha and Shukra Laxmi Shrestha respectively (Shankarapur), Shashi Sharma Aryal and Mira Acharya Maharjan respectively (for Chandragiri) and Ramesh Maharjan and Saraswati Khadka respectively (for Kirtipur).

Meanwhile, the UML is set to field Hari Krishna Banjyankar as mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, it has been learnt. RSS
