Vice-Chairman of CPN (UML), Bamdev Gautam, arrived at Palungtar today to visit the land for the construction of safe houses to quake survivors.

On the occasion, leader Gautam said that he arrived to see the land required for the systematic urbanization at Palungtar area, saying the government of Malaysia has made a proposal for constructing 5,000 safe houses at the area for the quake survivors.

Gautam arrived here at a request of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Leader Gautam is accompanied by Secretary at the Ministry of Urban Development, Arjun Karki, and representative of the construction company at South Korea, Lie.

Stating that the houses are going to be built to keep the quake survivors and victims of natural disaster of quake-hit districts including Gorkha, Dhading and Nuwakot in a systematic manner, former Home Minister Gautam said, “We have selected Palungtar to develop systematic settlement as Gorkha was the epicenter of April 25 earthquake.”

CPN (UML) Vice-Chairperson Gautam said that responsibility has been given to the National Planning Commission to carryout reconstruction task for the time being, saying reconstruction authority would be formed soon. He further said that the border blockade would end soon.

Gautam said, “Deputy prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kamal Thapa, has not signed four-point agreement as broadcasted in different media.” He said DPM Thapa only held talks with Indian Minister for External Affairs, Sushma Swaraj.

Saying that the 11-point demand put forth by Madhesi Morcha was a ‘wrong stance’, Gautam said that Madhes province could not be made from Mechi to Mahakali. RSS
