11 Feb, Banepa: Vice President Parmananda Jha has urged the political parties to fulfill the promises they made to the people.

Talking to journalists, he said drafting of a constitution within a year was not a topic to be debated whether it was possible or not.

The Vice President, who arrived here in connection with inaugurating the Athara Purana Gyan Mahayagya [a religious scripture recitation ceremony], said that he for one was of the view that the new constitution should be promulgated at the earliest. “The relevancy of the President remains until the constitution is formulated,” he added.

Earlier to this, Vice President Jha inaugurated the Gyan Mahayagya by making an offering of a coconut on the sacrificial fire.

Addressing the function, he said religious works and activities have helped promote mutual goodwill and fraternity in society.

The Vice President said that religion teaches us tolerance, moral values and character and inculcates culture and civilization.

He also underlined that religion and culture has helped the peoples of different communities and castes to be united in a single bond.

Chairman of the Gosainsthan Naimisharanya Area Development Committee, Mukunda Prasad Upadhyay said the religious function is organised to collect proceeds for establishing a Vedic school and a school for the disabled and underprivileged in Kavre. RSS
