5 Jan, Kathmandu: The CPN (Maoist Centre) has, insisting on the need of consensus and cooperation at the political sphere, said the Supreme Court (SC)’s verdict relating to the constitution amendment bill has paved the way for so.
A meeting of the party’s central office held today expressed hope that the main opposition CPN (UML) would support the amendment bill. The meeting agreed to continue with talks with all political parties to endorse the bill on the basis of a consensus.
At the meeting, party Chair and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ said the country’s politics was heading towards the trajectory of consensus in the aftermath of the SC January 2 verdict regarding the bill.
“The government is making maximum efforts to take the country towards an electoral phase,” he said, underlining the need of making special efforts to create an atmosphere favorable for the election, Party leader Agni Prasad Sapkota said quoting the party Chair.
Party Chair Dahal informed the meeting that politics was getting close to a consensus as the constitution amendment proposal would be passed after Supreme Court’s verdict and discussions with all political parties were on in this regard.
Internal elections and organisational work procedures of the Maoist Centre for which the meeting was called would be discussed on Friday, said Maoist Centre spokesperson Pampha Bhusal.
