15 May, Ratnanagar (Chitwan): A candidate in the first round of the local level elections, who was suspected of being abducted, has come into contact with his family members.

CPN (Maoist Centre) candidate Prem Bahadur Rimal had remained out of contact since yesterday morning.

Chitwan’s Superintendent of Police (SP), Deepak Thapa, said Rimal made contact with his family last night. The Maoist Centre had accused the Biplov – led Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) cadres of being behind the abduction. Despite the incident, the elections were conducted in a peaceful environment in Chitwan.

A preliminary investigation has suggested that Rimal went out of contact deliberately due to the election. District Police Office, Chitwan has stated that it is carrying out further investigation into the incident. Rimal went out of contact at 1 am on Saturday night. RSS
