5 March, Kathmandu:

A partial solar eclipse will be witnessed from Nepal in the morning on March 9, said the Nepal Calendar Determination Committee.

The solar eclipse will start at 5:57 am but it will be witnessed only after sunrise at 6:22 am, Committee Chairman Prof Dr Ram Chandra Gautam told the National News Agency (RSS).

The prime time of the partial solar eclipse is set at 6:27 am while it will pass over at 7:02 am.

Customarily, the government has been declaring public holidays during the solar eclipses. As the Ghyalbo Lhosar falls on the day of the eclipse, the government will not have to make any such announcement for public holiday, said Home Ministry Spokesperson Yadav Koirala.
