1 June, Kathmandu: Keeping in mind the inconvenience for the communications between the general public and the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) on the matters related to post-quake reconstruction, the NRA launched the toll-free helpline from Wednesday.

The helpline facility is available for the callers for round the clock and the callers could dial and register their queries or complaints at 1660-01-72000 while the Ncell users can do it at 98015-72111, according to the NRA.

The NRA officials, however, will respond to the callers within the 24 hours.

NRA’s CEO Prof Dr Govindaraj Pokharel on Wednesday made a mock call for the toll-free helpline. During that course, he, acting as a quake-affected person, reported to the NRA’s helpline service that none from the NRA had been to his locality to complete the procedures for the beneficiaries to receive the second instalment of the reconstruction aid.

CEO Pokharel believed that the helpline would be useful for the hundreds of thousands quake survivors across the countries to establish two-way communications between the NRA and them and bring their issues to the notice of the Authority.

The UNDP provided financial and technical assistance for this service, it was shared.

UNDP’s Deputy Director in Nepal, Sophie Kemkhadze, expressed her confidence that the latest service launched by the NRA would help it understand the local level issues for the post-quake reconstruction task. RSS
