1 June, Kathmandu:Minister for Defense Bal Krishna Khand has said the Nepal Army (NA) has undertaken quality and result-oriented works as part of its contribution to the country development.
Informing media about major performances carried out during his term, Minsiter Khand said the NA has been discharging its responsibility as a committed and professional organization towards all fronts including national security, independence and territorial integrity.
Urging the people and media not to harbour any doubt that the army involvement in development works would undermine national security and professionalism, Minister Khand said, “NA has been the base for safeguarding nationality”.
Lauding the national army for ts identity as a very reliable force in keeping global peace, he said discussions are being held with the United Nations regarding addition of its performance-based responsibility and number of peace keepers in the missions.
The army diplomacy has been taken ahead for the peace and development of the country, he noted.
Recalling notable contributions of NA in realizing the national goal of development and prosperity of federal democratic republic Nepal, he said there is attraction and trust among youths towards NA for its programme and performance.
On the occasion, Defense Secretary Shreedhar Sapkota sadi the visit of Chinese Defense Minster after 16 years, advancement of the proposal to add two divisions of NA and responsibility entrusted to NA for the construction of fast-track were among the significant works performed during the tenure of Defense Minister Khand.
