13 July, Kathmandu: The District Court, Kathmandu, awarded life sentence to the convicted Manraj Gurung and Pramesh Chauhan in the brutal Ranibari murder case, along with the confiscation of all property on Wednesday.

A bench headed by Judge Ramesh Prasad Rijal, pronounced the two guilty in the murder of Engineer Hem Bahadur Shrestha and his spouse Anjana Shrestha dating back to 2002, according to court registrar Dhruba Kumar Upreti. The couple were hacked to death on July 15 in their Ranibari-based rented room.

The police, two years ago, had arrested Chauhan, the permanent resident of Ramechhap who was living at Jorpati at the time, and Gurung, who originally hails from Dolakha and was living at Samakhusi on the charge of their involvement in the gruesome murder of the couple. RSS
