Kathmandu, Feb. 22: Vice Chief of General Staff of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, Lieutenant General Wang Guanzhong, paid a courtesy call on Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) General Gaurav Shunsher Rana at the Army Headquarters today. Lt. Gen. Wang is currently on a visit to Nepal.

In course of the meeting talks were held on the mutual cooperation and the bilateral relations subsisting between the Nepalese Army and the Chinese Army since long, the Nepalese Army Directorate of Public Relations stated in a press release today.

On the occasion, CoAS Rana thanked the Chinese Army saying the cooperation extended by it to the Nepalese Army for enhancing the professional capacity in the communications, engineering, health and other sectors has further helped the army.

In the meeting, Lt. Gen. Wang praised the role played by the Nepalese Army at the national and international level. He said as per the past agreement related to Chinese assistance to Nepal, two mobile hospitals were in the process of being delivered under the 50 million Renminbi assistance. He also expressed the desire to extend a further assistance of 30 million Renminbi in the coming year.

The Nepalese Army has expressed the belief that this kind of high-level meetings would besides further deepening the relations between the Nepalese Army and the Chinese PLA would also help in strengthening the bilateral ties between the two countries. RSS
