16 June, Kathmandu: As the government postponed the local level elections of June 28 in Province No. 2, the election code of conduct enforced by the Election Commission (EC) has become inactive.

EC’s Spokesperson Surya Prasad Sharma said that the election code of conduct was lifted until next decision, allowing the ministries concerned for transfer, promotion, deputation, foreign trips and other necessary issues.

He, however, said that the decision of the enforcement of election code of conduct in Province No. 1, 5 and 7 was unchanged.

Meanwhile, the EC has urged the political parties not to use children in their political activities.

Stating that violation of election code of conduct were reported with the use of children by the political parties and their sister organizations in their activities, the EC has urged the political parties to fully abide by the election code of conduct and not to use the children in the political activities.

Spokesperson Sharma said that such request was done by sending separate letters to Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Centre), Rastriya Prajatantra Party, Sanghiya Samajbadi Forum, Nepal and Nepal Loktrantirk Forum.

Likewise, the EC has directed the Chief Election Officer of Bajura to take necessary initiatives to take action by probing into the reported use of the children in the polls activities. RSS
