10 Nov, Bhimduttanagar:

Local poll is a must for the smooth enforcement of the constitution, Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ramesh Lekhak has stressed.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union, Kanchanpur at Bhimduttangar today, the Minister from the Nepali Congress said the constitution amendment and local election are the focused agenda of the government.

“Holding the long-halted election of local bodies is itself the enforcement of the constitution,” he said, adding that the government is working keeping this agenda in top priority.

The government is ready to address the voices of Madhes-centric parties who are miffed at some of the provisions of the constitution through democratic means.

The Minister from the far-western region said a detailed report related to the construction of a 800-metre and a four-lane cemented bridge over the Mahakali River has been sent to the Government of India for a final approval, expressing his hope that a tender regarding this will be called for within the next four months.
