Belauri (Kanchanpur), March 17: To a sheer mockery of the child rights and fundamental right to education, more than 200 students here have been barred from taking the imminent SLC exams reasoning they failed to pay Rs 500 exam fee.

According to a record maintained in the District Education Office, 248 students were banned from sitting in the SLC exams.

Assistant Education Officer and exam section chief at the District Education Office, Pushkar Prasad Bhatta, said among the total, 146 are boy and 102 the girls.

They were facing such action because they could not submit the exam fee on time.

Last year, there were 227 such students barred from taking the exam.

The District Education Office had fixed February 22 as the deadline for fee submission. The fee submission is the revenue collection he added.

From the district, a total of 11,706 students are taking SLC exam this year.

SLC exam are the school leaving certificate exam, after which they students complete the secondary education in Nepal. RSS
