19 May, MUMBAI: A bag containing Rs 1.2 crore in cash was stolen from the Versova home of actor-director-producer Satish Kaushik on Sunday. It is suspected that his domestic help has fled with the money.
Kaushik and his wife live at Raj Classic apartment, where he has three domestic help. On Friday, one of Kaushik’s employees visited the home and handed him over a bag with Rs 1.2 crore, which is the collection from a recent film.
Kaushik was supposed to deposit the sum in the bank on Monday and left it in the living room.
“It is likely that the accused, Sajan Kumar, fled with the bag in the afternoon when Kaushik’s wife went to the washroom and Kaushik was out. Sajan, who is 19 to 22 years old, had been working for the family for four months,” the police said. Later in the day, Kaushik’s wife realized that the bag was missing, and so was Sajan. She lodged a complaint at the Versova police station.
The police said they tried to trace the location of the accused by tracking his phone, but it was switched off. The Kaushiks did not register Sajan with the cops when employing him.
