Lamjung, Jan. 10: The number of people visiting a hot water pond based at Bahundanda VDC of northern Lamjung is going up. Around 200 people flock to the pond daily for bathing.

Patients with skin diseases and arthritis come here with a faith that their diseases will be cured once they take a bath in the pond which lies some 20

kilometers north from the district headquarters Beshisahar. Motor service is available from the district headquarters to Arkhale Besi. Then after, devotees have to cross the Marsyangdi River to reach the pond.

The site is located close to the Annapurna Trekking Route, one of the famous and busiest trekking routes in the world. People from Lamjung, Tanahu, Gorkha and Manang come here for bathing.

Although the pond is welcoming more and more visitors day by day, lack of development of necessary physical infrastructures has caused inconvenience to tourists, according to a local social worker Loknath Ghimire.

Although the locals have done their best to keep the pond clean and even constructed taps on their own efforts, many works have to be undertaken for the protection of pond and to make it more systematized, he said. Normally, people visit the pond from mid November. RSS
